Legal Sanctions Against Illegal Streaming Of Paid Digital Content: A Case Study Of Byon Combat Showbiz Volume 5

Abstract

Byon Combat suffered losses due to illegal streaming practices. This study aims to examine the regulations protecting the copyright of Byon Combat Showbiz Vol.5 and the criminal sanctions imposed on offenders under Indonesian positive law. The findings reveal that offenders violated the copyright holder’s economic rights as regulated by the Copyright Law, with potential penalties of 1–10 years imprisonment and/or fines ranging from IDR 100,000,000 to IDR 4,000,000,000. These results highlight the need for strict legal protection to prevent similar violations.
