Main Article Content
Abstract
This research analyzes the effectiveness of autopsy evidence in murder investigations at the South Labuhanbatu Resort Police (Polres Labuhanbatu Selatan) and its urgency in ensuring objective verification. The method employed is empirical legal research (socio-legal) through interviews and documentary studies. The results indicate that autopsies and visum et repertum play a crucial role in the evidentiary process pursuant to Articles 184 and 133 of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP); however, challenges persist due to the limited number of forensic doctors and inadequate facilities. Consequently, enhanced cooperation, specialized training for investigators, and public education are highly recommended.
